A campaign to make Jerusalem a more accessible tourist destination for senior citizens has begun.

Coordinated by Jerusalem Tourism Board and the Tourism Ministry, plans to make the capital city a more appealing destination call for improved promotion of local attractions and activities.

The initiative will offer tour packages to pensioners at reduced prices that are also tailored to their requirements.

A campaign in the national press will be launched this week which will give more detailed information on the scheme, the Jerusalem Post explains.

"Jerusalem represents a major destination for pensioners, but the potential of this growing population visiting the city has not yet been realised," a spokesperson for the Tourism Ministry told the publication.

Attractions in the city include the Western Wall, Yad Vashem and Museum of the Jewish Diaspora.

Whatever their age, consumers jetting off on holiday may find it beneficial to invest in comprehensive travel insurance, a competitive deal on which may be obtained from InsureandGo.
