Accidental damage caused to homes by children and family pets over the upcoming half-term holidays may reach some £106 million, it has been stated.
Recent research by Sainsbury's
Home Insurance has suggested that up to 900,000 people may experience some form of damage to their home while their children are out of school.
Many children and animals may spend an increased amount of time inside due to the chance of inclement weather as winter approaches and the areas of the home most at risk of damage were identified as walls, carpets and other flooring, the provider asserts.
Head of Sainsbury's
Home Insurance Steve Johnson commented: "If the weather is poor and they have to spend more time indoors, the chances of your home being damaged in some way by [your children] or their friends increases."
It was recently reported by Alliance & Leicester that Brits may be willing to spend up to £8,500 on home security to feel safe in their own homes.
