Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital city, has been named as the cheapest destination in the world by STA Travel.
A pint of beer, a meal in a local restaurant, a night in a hostel, a bus ride and a sightseeing tour would cost visitors just over £13, according to the research.
Abdul Rauf Abu Hassan, UK and Ireland director at Tourism Malaysia, said that as well as offering unrivalled value for money, Kuala Lumpur's unique heritage and culture sets it apart from other Asian destinations.
"The city is Asia in a nutshell, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences. The result is an exciting melting pot of numerous religions and varied cuisines, with a flourishing arts scene," he commented.
