Adventure insurance could be a wise investment for those looking to take the advice of one travel writer and jet off to La Gomera.

The island, 40 minutes away from Tenerife, offers walks for all ages and abilities along old bridleways, writes Telegraph travel writer Louise Rodden.

Taking such a holiday without adequate travel insurance could leave tourists out of pocket should they have an accident and find themselves unable to enjoy the activities on offer.

While appealing to walking enthusiasts, the island could also be an interesting place for nature lovers to visit.

Ms Rodden notes that La Gomera is a "tiny eco-kingdom", boasting banana plantations, "ferny rainforests" and vertiginous gorges.

And now could be a great time to jet off to the island, as the writer comments that the weather is similar to a "hot British summer".

The island is also the starting point of sailing challenge the Woodvale Atlantic Rowing Race, which finishes in Antigua.

Adventure insurance from InsureandGo may be an ideal purchase for the thrill-seeking holidaymaker, as it covers 40 activities as standard.
