Las Vegas tourism officials have unveiled a new plan to attract visitors that will target UK tourists specifically, the Associated Press has reported.

The new plan, to be unveiled on Tuesday of this week and named 'What Happens Here, Stays Here," will be tailored for 'British humour' in order to appeal to the UK market.

The plan is even being focus group tested in London by the advertising firm that created the campaign, to ensure that it is a hit with Britons.

Las Vegas as the capital of 'adult fun' will be the main focus of the campaign.

Tourism officials are attempting to return to visitor figures from before the September 11 attacks and subsequent increases in visa restrictions and airport security.

The UK is the third market for visitors from abroad to the United States, only trailing the US's two neighbours, Canada and Mexico.

Officials are hoping the new campaign will boost visitors to 15 per cent by 2010, up from its current 13 per cent.

Before September 11, the figure stood at 18 per cent.
