London has sought to strengthen its ties with India in order to cooperate on business and tourism, local newspaper the Economic Times has reported.

The British capital is set to send a 100 member strong delegation to India this November, led by the city's mayor Ken Livingstone.

"London is taking India very seriously and we want to encourage the two-way process of business and tourism between the two nations," said Visit London chief executive James Bidwell.

The London delegation will share information on issues related to tourism, such as collaborations between the London Tube and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, as well as ideas on airport infrastructure and technology.

Indian tourists are the most keen on travelling to London out of all Asian countries, with over 2 million visitors last year spending close to £140 million.

And the city is expecting Indian visits to undergo double digit growth in the short term future.
