A local driver from Bath managed to escape an accident in which she crashed against a telegraph pole, according to local media reports.

The driver's Peugeot 306 swerved off the road and into a telegraph pole and then hurtled into a ditch, website thisisbath.co.uk reports.

The accident took place in the morning on the A431 Bath to Bitton road, at a section near Kelston.

Police closed off the road straight after the crash until the late afternoon, as ambulances were called to the scene.

The driver was moved to Bath's Royal United Hospital after the accident, which had left her with whiplash injuries but seemingly no long-term damage.

An accident involving three vehicles this Sunday was also reported on one of Bath's main roads.

Three children were taken to the accident and emergency unit, with one seven-year-old girl going to Royal United Hospital with cuts to her head.
