Gambling revenues in Macau surged by over half (56.1 per cent) in October, in comparison to the same month in 2006, it has emerged.
Casinos in the special administrative region took 9.22 billion patacas (£542 million) in the 31-day period, according to the South China Morning Post, citing government figures.
Also, the number of tourists arriving in the area during October increased by nearly a quarter (22 per cent), with 2.43 million people visiting the region, according to figures from the Macau Statistics and Census Service.
