A new climbing wall has been built in Madrid that allows tourists to experience the thrill of the treacherous overhang within the comfortable confines of one of Europe's premiere city break destinations.

Climbing is now one of the fastest growing outdoor adventure sports in the UK and there are a vast array of holidays available to remote rock sites in the darkest depths of rural Europe but operators in Madrid have now brought the rock to the urban dwelling tourist.

Built by specialist climbing firm Top30, the new generation wall now features demanding routes with 2,400 holds to challenge even the most demanding veterans of the sport.

Situated in El Parque de Roma in the Returo district, the site is home to a 12 metre sculpture that is as a pleasing to the eye as it is to hold-seeking fingers. In addition, it includes a boulder section that allows for a 20 metre traverse.

Madrid also offers sporting enthusiasts the chance to tour one of the largest and most famous arenas in the world, the Bernabeu, home of Real Madrid.

Over 40 adventure sports are covered automatically by InsureandGo's travel insurance policies.
