The World Eco-Tourism Expo 2007 was recently launched in the Malaysian city Ipoh.
Lasting some four days, the event was intended to raise awareness of a number of natural sites, including rainforests, wetlands and wildlife in the Malaysia and Indonesia region.
Countries involved in the event included Namibia, Kenya, Fiji and Brunei, Chinaview notes.
Delegates from across the globe gave presentations, demonstrations and speeches on topics such as the preservation of natural resources, habitats and the heritage and lifestyles of a number of ethnic minority communities in the region.
Growth in eco-tourism may have contributed to an increase in the number of visitors to Brunei, which has seen a boosted number of travellers in recent years, according to the Borneo Bulletin.
