Two leading Malaysian resorts have been voted as the best option for a family friendly holiday in south-east Asia.
The Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort in Sabah and Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort & Span at Langkawi were listed as the top two destinations for families travelling in south-east Asia by a leading local travel agent, travel website travelmole.com has reported.
According to travel agent Agoda, family style accommodation in the region is undergoing significant growth, having quadrupled in the past three years.
'Malaysia has long been recognised as a perfect family holiday destination, offering such vast diversity that a family can easily find the perfect resort to suit their needs without compromising on quality, high standards and family care,' said Shahrin Mokhtar, director of tourism Malaysia Sydney, to travelmole.
The Shangri-La Tanjung is possibly the largest kids club facility in south-east Asia, Mr Mokhtar argued, and is located in the striking tropical landscapes of Borneo.
It also allows families the chance to take place in fun activities such as visiting orang-utans at a nearby resort.
The scenery, weather and exotic culture were all singled out by Mr Mokhtar as the reasons why more and more families were choosing Malaysia.
