People could find themselves making a car insurance claim should they get distracted behind the wheel.

Hugh Bladon, a founding member of the Association of British Drivers, said that while cars have their distractions, much depends on circumstances and how the driver behaves.

While commenting that taking their hands off the wheel to hold a phone is "particularly daft," Mr Bladon notes that using Bluetooth in a car to make calls is "no more a distraction" than making conversation with other people in the vehicle.

He says that smoking while driving is "potentially extremely dangerous", as could be turning round in the driver's seat to scold squabbling children in the back.

However, he comments that he is "fed up" with driving laws bring brought in by the government.

Mr Bladon said that people should be left to try and be sensible.

Car insurance from InsureandGo can cover a vehicle for damage caused in an accident and get motorists back on the road quickly.
