And while holidaymakers may be distracted by thoughts of cocktails on a white sandy beach, important
holiday insurance cover should not be overlooked.
Mirror travel writer Sarah Arnold says that there is much to offer on a luxury break to the island, pointing out that "you don't have to be famous to enjoy the fabulous, unspoilt beaches of Mauritius".
She also comments that well-known faces such as Prince Harry, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kylie Minogue have all been spotted holidaying at the destination.
According to Ms Arnold, the happy and friendly people there are the "jewel in the island's crown".
Talking about her luxury getaway, she says that her apartment had a private beach, a large sleeping area and a sunken bathtub.
Times travel writer Joanna Duckworth recently took a trip to the island, saying the rooms in her hotel were "sensual havens".
InsureandGo can offer holiday insurance for those jetting off on a once in a lifetime luxury break to Mauritius, or any other destination.
