Britons with cash to spare are flocking to destinations such as those within the Middle East as they have become exciting and accessible tourist hotspots, Travel Magazine has suggested.

Commenting recently, Sharon Livingston, editor of the publication, noted that many destinations around the world have been opening up to tourism, with Beijing and Latin American countries being particular examples.

"There are also places in the Middle East that have become playgrounds for those with disposable incomes ... Dubai is a place that has been very popular," she noted.

She concluded by suggesting that travel habits have also changed for affluent tourists in recent years, with many spreading their holidays over two or three breaks throughout the year rather than going on one longer trip.

Elsewhere, research from Luxury Travel Magazine has suggested that China will enjoy the biggest growth in tourism in 2008, with Asia, South America, Europe and the Far East also set for substantial increases in luxury visitor numbers.
