It "would be a shame" to miss out on the excitement of the Olympics due to political concerns, one commentator has suggested.
According to a spokesperson from online resource the Traveller, there are a wealth of cultural attractions within China that are not positively reported.
Edan Harvey, product manager at The Traveller, said: "Sadly there is much ignorance, rumour and innuendo regarding China. It is a fascinating country with a host of cultural attractions. It would be a shame for people to miss out."
Mr Harvey continued by noting the widespread appeal of the Terracotta Army Exhibition at the British Museum as testament to the interest in Chinese culture.
He concluded by suggesting that people should travel to learn more about the world and make contact with people and communities in order to promote understanding.
