Next month, trucks from all over the US will converge on Las Vegas for the Monster Jam Finals taking place in the city's Sam Boyd Stadium.
Environmentalists will certainly not be invited to the crash and smash-fest that is the high point in any raw-blooded trucker's calendar, where dozens of huge vehicles compete in a number of competitions that chiefly involve roaring engines and devastating collisions.
Vehicles of up to 10,000 pounds weight with V8 engines and 1,500 horsepower will tear around the specially designed track, which is located eight miles east of the famous Las Vegas strip.
Amid all the smoke, dust, howling engines and smashes, drivers will be competing for the Racing World Championship and the Freestyle World Championship, but fans usually attend purely for the spectacle of man and machine in raw competition.
But if the dirt and grime of the track does not play a part in your ideal holiday, Las Vegas offers a whole host of other entertainment.
The city, situated in the Nevada desert, is the gambling capital of the world and many casinos offer free drinks and concerts to complement tourists' fun on the card tables.
The Monster Jam Finals take place on March 24th.
