The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has announced that the number of Britons holidaying abroad increased by five per cent during the period September to November 2007.
Seasonally adjusted results from the department form part of a larger study covering the 12-month period up to November 2007.
The ONS is the government body responsible for the collation of official data across a number of fields and made its findings on UK travel patterns yesterday.
It also reported a three per cent rise in the number of travellers visiting Britain in the same three month period.
In total, spending by overseas visitors to Britain was £4 billion, a figure that was roughly the same in last year's results.
The findings follow an announcement that Paris, Dublin and New York are Heathrow's top flight destinations for both UK and international passengers.
