More than half of people surveyed by a motor magazine said they will consider the carbon emissions of their next vehicle before they buy it, it has been revealed.

And while the Auto Trader survey did not poll users on their car insurance, it may be hoped that all recipients are as concerned about protecting their car as they are the environment.

The Auto Trader survey saw 2,000 UK drivers polled on their eco opinions.

Published yesterday (March 17th), the poll shows that 51 per cent of motorists are considering buying an environmentally-friendly car.

As well as this, 42 per cent of those surveyed said they would make sure their next car puts out less C02 than their current motor.

Managing director of Carbon Footprint John Buckley said that one way of both reducing the cost of a car and lowering CO2 emissions at the same time was to get a vehicle with a good fuel efficiency.

Car insurance from InsureandGo can help drivers feel reassured that should their vehicle be damaged, they will be covered.
