Travellers who take flights to and from Singapore will be able to view full details of costing from November 1st, but many in the country's travel industry are unimpressed, it has been claimed.

Writing for the Strait Times, Karamjit Kaur says that the new rules will mean no more hidden charges and the end of "$0 fares" being advertised when in reality, airport taxes, fuel surcharges, insurance fees, convenience costs and administrative charges apply.

The rules on how flight prices can be advertised in the country came after complaints from customers, with Consumer Association of Singapore president Yeo Guat Kwang telling the newspaper that it was facing a "growing tide" of complaints from frustrated travellers.

However, according to Karamjit Kaur's article, some in the industry have said that the new ruling will make things more difficult for them, pointing out that other industries do not have to reveal anything and that passengers can always "call and find out" the real prices anyway.

In related news, USA Today reports that Singapore Airlines have a fuel surcharge of $360 (£224) for a non-stop flight from the US to Singapore.
