Ever dropped a coin down the side of your car seat and not bothered to pick it up? Well, motorists who do this are sitting on a pile of loose change worth an estimated £14 million, according to a new survey.
Website recycleyourcar.co.uk disposes of around 400,000 cars annually and found more than £170,000 in loose change left in cars in one year.
With 32.9 million licensed cars driving in the UK, the company estimated that there could be around £14 million in coins lingering on car floors, Materials Recycling Week reports.
"They say you can't take your money with you when you go but this is exactly what UK motorists are doing everyday on their travels back and forth to work and school," said Derek Campbell, a spokesman for the website.
He said that a large part of the money could be "irretrievably lost" when the vehicles are crushed and shredded, resulting in significant financial losses.
Don't lose out significantly by not being covered in the case of unforeseen car accidents.
