Writing for the Telegraph, Charles Starmer-Smith says that motor fans may want to plan their 2009 holidays around the F1 season, which started with a race in Melbourne over the weekend.
Mr Starmer-Smith talks of attending the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2008, commenting that many racing fans are now combining their love of racing with a break in the sun.
"Many of those at Sepang circuit that afternoon were combining the experience with shopping trips and sightseeing in nearby Kuala Lumpur or beach breaks in Langkawi or Sipidan," he says.
He says that as well as F1 racing, sports fans looking to combine a holiday with the chance to catch a race could find the "equally glamorous" MotoGP season interesting.
British driver Jenson Button celebrated his second F1 win at the first race of the season.
