Interest in climbing Mount Kilimanjaro has increased after a group of celebrities tackled the peak in aid of Comic Relief, it has been noted.
Adventurous Brits planning to undertake such a challenge may find that a traditional
travel insurance policy does not cover them for such activities and should check the small print before jetting off.
Spokesperson for responsibletravel.com Krissy Roe said that interest from the public in climbing the mountain has increased 12-fold.
"With the Comic Relief coverage of the charity trek, that's had an impact and obviously seeing celebrities climbing a mountain [has too], particularly Cheryl Cole," she said.
A group of celebrities including Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole and presenter Fearne Cotton reached the summit of the mountain on March 13th.
Responsibletravel.com offers 22 different Kilimanjaro trips and
cheap travel insurance could be the perfect companion for a mountain trek.
Adventure insurance from
InsureandGo covers 40 activities as standard, including trekking up to 6000 metres.
