Staying in multiple locations when on holiday is a great way to make the most of a trip to Portugal, it has been claimed.

A spokesperson for Cheapflights.co.uk said the country offers a unique experience to holidaymakers and as such, travellers might enjoy a twin break, whereby they spend a few days in a large city like Lisbon, before heading out to spend the remainder of their holiday in the country.

She commented: "From the cultural highlights of Lisbon to the mountainous coastline of the Algarve, Portugal's bustling cities, gorgeous scenery and lively culture make for an excellent holiday."

The representative added the stunning coastlines and fantastic weather can make it hard for holidaymakers to leave.

According to the recent travel survey from Wanderlust and the Association of Independent Travel Operators, 83 per cent of Brits plan to travel either as much as or more than they did during 2009 in the coming 12 months.
