Some of the best Northern Irish talents will be on display in Washington DC this week, in a bid to attract more tourists to the country.

Rock band Snow Patrol will perform at the Bender Arena, while Belfast pianist Barry Douglas will play at the Camerata Ireland at the Library of Congress.

The series of arts and cultural events form part of the Rediscover Northern Ireland programme, which is taking place to promote the area as a great place to study, work, live, visit and invest in.

Leading the events will be Maria Eagle, minister for enterprise, trade and investment and the arts.

She said: "An amazing transformation has taken place in Northern Ireland over the past decade and the region is fast forwarding to a bright future.

"The region has become a hub for international travellers and for investors and the Invest NI events combined with those from the wider Rediscover Northern Ireland programme will help to build upon this success and create new opportunities for the region."
