An increasingly large number of people are taking one-night breaks, according to the results of a new survey.
And while travellers may only be away from home for a short time,
holiday insurance is still essential to ensure that the trip is covered against problems.
Website Hotels.com conducted a poll of tourists and found that searches for overnight stays in several cities had gone up by a considerable amount.
These types of trips have been dubbed "nano-breaks" by the travel industry.
One-night stopovers in Brighton saw a 140 per cent rise in searches when compared with the same month in 2008, with hunts for breaks in Bournemouth up by 143 per cent.
Communications director for Hotels.com Alison Couper said that the results showed Brits were "determined" to keep travelling.
"All of our research shows that people see holidays as a right not a luxury," she commented.
Holiday insurance from
InsureandGo may be a wise investment for people planning on taking a nano-break within the UK, or further afield.
