Telegraph travel columnist Peter Hardy has argued that the recently opened Revelstoke Mountain resort in Canada could be the world's greatest ski destination.
He calls it the "most exciting development in the snow business on either side of the Atlantic over the past 20 years".
With knee-deep powder along a course that he says seems to last forever, Mr Hardy asserts that Revelstoke will soon fix its place among the world's greatest ski resorts.
The mountainous area, which had previously been famous among heli-skiers, saw a new era of economic opportunity ushered in when the resort opened shortly before Christmas, he argues.
Revelstoke opened on December 22nd 2007 with 1,443 metres of lift-serviced terrain, with plans for around 100 runs, which the resort believes will transform it in to one of the world's premier ski and snowboard destinations.
A new $1 billion (£512 million) ski village is also under construction which will provide 5,000 chalets, as well as hotels, bars and a championship golf course.
