Yesterday saw the official launch of the Culture 08 campaign, which aims to promote cultural attractions throughout the UK.
The campaign is being organised by VisitBritain and targets the one in five people who incorporate cultural attractions in to their holiday itinerary when travelling in the UK.
VisitBritain expects to see a sharp rise in the number of people travelling to Britain in 2008, with an estimated two million additional visitors being accommodated for.
According to the tourism agency, as well as the 300 arts, music, dance, and theatre events planned for 2008, Liverpool's year as the capital of culture will give a boost to the number of people visiting Britain.
Laurence Bresh, VisitBritain's England marketing general manager, said: "We want to encourage our visitors to create their own cultural calendar of events, exhibitions, shows and scenes and get out and about enjoying short breaks in their own country."
