An attraction in New Zealand has been given the country's official mark of tourism quality, it has emerged.

Hukawai Glacier Centre has been awarded Qualmark status by New Zealand's tourism industry.

The Qualmark programme identifies trustworthy and professional operators to allow visitors to the region to book and purchase services, activities and products with confidence.

"We think it is important that visitors have these official and independent benchmarks to refer to when they're making decisions about how to spend their time and money," owners of the centre Roberta Giacon and Jennie O'Loughlin told news website Scoop.

The facility offers visitors the chance to surround themselves with the sights and sounds of the glacier region.

Qualmark is run on a not-for-profit basis to enhance the experience of travellers and tourists.

Those wishing to visit New Zealand, or any other country, may find that they benefit from investing in travel insurance from InsureandGo.
