Oman Air, the national airline of Oman, has launched a new flight route from London Gatwick to Muscat.
The route will start this November, with flights leaving Gatwick at 10.30 GMT to land at Muscat at 09:45 local time the next morning.
And return flights will leave the Oman capital in the afternoon at 16:00 local time, to return to London at 20:30 GMT.
Oman is a little known destination for British tourists, but has much to offer to travellers, including Jebel Shams, the tallest mountain in the region and popular with campers.
Adventure travellers are also well catered for, with camel riding, mountain-climbing and sand skiing in the desert.
A Muscat Festival is held in January that showcases traditional dances and music.
'I am confident that the new, direct link will stimulate increased commerce and tourism exchange between the two long-standing partners, namely the United Kingdom and the Sultanate of Oman, and prove popular with business and leisure travellers,' said the chief executive of Oman Air Ziad Bin Karim Al Haremi.
