Bosses at Alfa are planning on re-introducing trendy Italian names to its car models, in a bid to attract new interest.
Auto Express reports that the Alfa officials are mulling over a move from its numerical badge system to the Italian names it used to give its cars.
"We have numbers that nobody remembers and a history of well known names," Alfa boss Antonio Baravall told Auto Express.
If a meeting in two months' time agrees to the new method, the first car to be renamed will be the Junior hatchback a rival to the BMW Mini which will be named the Racer.
But Alfa is keen to maintain a positive image, rather than an exclusive one that only appeals to enthusiasts.
Nicholas Bernard said: "We don't want to become an anorak or an outcast."
