The Motor Cycle Industry Trainers Association and Motorcycle Rider Training Association have merged under the banner of the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCI) to provide a stronger voice for bikers in the UK.

Britons who ride a motorcycle will have to come to the organisation for all training, while the group will have a stronger voice in terms of representing the interests of bikers to the government.

Tara Glen, chairman for the MCI, said: "If the training industry is to respond successfully to the challenges ahead, maintain commerciality and drive improving rider safety standards, addressing the future as a larger single representative voice is essential."

Elsewhere, Brits were recently urged by the Retail Motor Industry Federation to ensure their vehicles are fully serviced and in good working order ahead of the winter months.

The organisation noted that checking battery power and tyre tread depth should be a top priority before the cold weather and icy driving conditions really set in.
