The publication of new travel guides for those with disabilities could be good news for people who are worried about facilities for a disabled person.

Brian Seaman, head of consultancy at Tourism for All, said the guides will help to provide travellers with up-to-date information on what facilities a resort offers ahead of a visit.

He commented: "It has been difficult in the past for disabled people to make an informed choice about what might be suitable or available, we genuinely expect that this guide will provide the information needed."

According to the Directgov website, the National Accessible Scheme (NAS) aims to help service providers within the tourism industry make their services more accessible, allowing more disabled people to use them.

NAS is a voluntary scheme in which accommodation providers can participate in order to accurately promote the facilities they offer to disabled guests or older visitors.
