Travel magazine Wanderlust, Nikon and the South Australian Commission will join forces to offer the UK's longest running amateur travel competition.

And the prize is one worth competing for – winners will be flown to South Australia in 2008 on a photographic commission, Rohan gear worth £250 and a Nikon digital SLR camera worth £400.

Runners-up will receive the same Nikon digital camera.

The competition will offer four amateur categories for competitors: People, Wildlife, Landscape and Festivals, as photographers will have to impress the judges with their ability to capture the moment in up to four different images.

And a new Portfolio category will be open to both professional and amateur photographers, who will have to put together five photographs, with at least one each fitting the four amateur categories.

In 2006, the panel of judges decided that no portfolio was good enough to win the Professional category and no prize was given, proof of the high standards expected in the competition.
