With the pound performing poorly on the money markets, it has been suggested that this is an ideal time to take advantage of all-inclusive holiday packages.

Tour operator Thomson Fly has also suggested that for those looking to make further savings, non-EU destinations may also be beneficial in lowering costs by avoiding strong performance by the euro.

Alan Pugh, head of planning and trading at Thomsonfly, said: "As additional costs in European destinations - food and beverage, for example - would be paid in euros exchanged from pounds, there has never been a better time to book an all-inclusive holiday."

He added that it would be a good time to visit Turkey as the country has seen many positive changes recently and while it remains cheaper than other Mediterranean countries, costs are rising as it becomes more popular.

According to statistics from the Post Office, the pound is worth 17 per cent less against the euro than it was this time last year.
