Brits looking for
cheap travel insurance and a cut-price getaway have been advised to look outside the eurozone.
Jonathan Cudworth, director of product management for Expedia, said countries which do not use the euro as currency are offering better value to British holidaymakers at present, with places like the Balkan states, Egypt and Turkey proving popular.
He commented: "The USA continues to be a great option, with its favourable exchange rate and variety of accommodation to suit all budgets with Las Vegas one of our best sellers, driven by low hotel rates."
According to the Thomson and First Choice Trends Report 2009, 23 per cent of UK holidaymakers plan to use the economic downturn to their advantage to book longer flights for the same price as ones nearer to home.
In addition, approximately half of all travellers plan to spend similar amounts in 2010 as they did last year, while 24 per cent plan to increase their spending.
