Older people throughout the UK are living and staying healthier for longer, it has been claimed, something which could be good news for those with
life insurance.
A spokesperson for Age Concern and Help the Aged said the fact that people are living longer and remaining active into their retirement should be a cause for celebration.
He commented: "We have had plenty of warning that we are going to have more people living longer. For many of them, they will have long periods of healthy and happy retirement or indeed longer periods of work."
According to a recent report by the Academy of Medical Sciences entitled Rejuvenating ageing research rising life expectancy combined with low birth rates, mean the populations of the UK and world are ageing.
It noted that over the last 150 years, advancements in medicine and standards of living have meant the average life expectancy has increased significantly for both men and women.
