It would be unadvisable to travel to China for the Olympic Games without having first purchased a ticket for the event, it has been noted.

According to Real Travel Magazine, those buying tickets inside the country may risk being sold fakes.

Hfu Reisenhofer, production editor of Real Travel magazine, said: "It's probably not the best idea to travel to Beijing with the intention of picking up tickets once you arrive - though undoubtedly this will be possible."

He added that there will be different tickets available for domestic and international tourists.

Sportsworld is the only official ticket holder operating in the UK, Mr Reisenhofer explained, advising those looking to watch the games that tickets for the event are selling fast.

The Beijing Olympic Games Organising Committee has issued a statement asserting that it will be firm on illegal ticket sales and has enforced a number of measures to tackle the problem.
