Following the annual Budget announcement, a number of UK citizens have expressed concerns over their financial situation.
A poll by price comparison site Moneysupermarket.com found that of 3,551 respondents, four out of five said that they had financial worries, with only 17 per cent of people saying that they had no concerns.
Nearly a third (30.4 per cent) said that they had definite worries and did not believe they could cope with their current situation for much longer.
For car-owners, Tim Moss, head of loans and debt for the firm, said that increased road taxes would be sure to hit many consumers.
"There is little doubt many Brits will find their annual road tax as high as the value of their car as from next year, creating a massive headache for people who are really struggling. These are some of the unintended but very real victims of the Budget," he commented.
Commenting on the tax increases, uSwitch has said that the hikes will come as a bitter pill to swallow for many UK motorists, with only those driving low-emission vehicles benefiting.
