People are not being put off their summer holidays by the credit crunch, according to a survey.
A poll of consumers has found that 75 per cent of people will still go abroad this year despite the credit crunch, with 6.25 per cent undecided and 18.75 per cent saying that the crunch will affect their decision whether to go away or not.
In related news, research from Cater Allen private bank says that over 57 per cent of UK holidaymakers are deliberately choosing holiday destinations where they are unlikely to bump into fellow Britons.
The survey also showed that Brits are concerned about how they holiday portrays them, with 46 per cent saying that they think where they go away reflects them as a person.
Other figures also show that four per cent of UK holidaymakers admit to trying to outdo their peers with their choice of destination.
Sally Watts, director of marketing at Cater Allen, said: "Britons are becoming more discerning about where they holiday and are keen to avoid stereotypes of British unruliness abroad."
