Tourists have been given advice on how to time their vacations to make the most of their time away.
According to Christopher Elliot, travel columnist at msnbc.com, consumers planning a trip to any destination should take into account terms such as high season, low season and "shoulder season".
While high season is associated with high prices and crowds of other holidaymakers and low season tends to occur when the weather and other conditions are not desirable.
Shoulder season refers to the point between the two, when crowds are not as dense as during the peak time of year and conditions remain pleasant.
Mr Elliot comments: "Shoulder season is usually the ideal time to go."
In related news, it was recently predicted by the Daily Telegraph that destinations which are off the beaten track are due to be popular with holidaymakers in 2008.
