While many owners may think that pet insurance is only required to help with the cost of unexpected veterinary bills, it can also help with a number of other circumstances, according to PDSA.

Jenny Davies, media and PR officer for the charity, stated in recent days that all animal owners should consider taking out a policy for their furry friends.

She explained that such cover not only provides peace of mind for owners and aid with veterinary bills, but can also be of help with costs should an unruly animal get out of hand.

"It is also an important consideration when thinking about the owner's liability for their pet's actions, such as damage to a person or property," Ms Davies explains.

Meanwhile, financial service provider Sainsbury's Bank recently stated that certain pet insurance policies can provide financial assistance should a pet go missing so that the owner is able to publicise the loss.

Consumers shopping around for pet insurance cover may find that InsureandGo can provide them with a great deal.
