Animal owners have been advised to shop around to find the most competitive
pet insurance cover, Churchill has claimed.
Commenting recently, Chris Price, head of pet insurance at the group, said that people should not rely solely on price comparison sites to find the cheapest deal as these often fail to provide cover details of all major providers.
Instead, he advised consumers to seek out insurers directly and look for a quote on their website.
"Also, check what your cover includes. Some policies may appear cheaper but will give you a lot less cover, resulting in a nasty shock when it comes to making a claim," Mr Price continued.
He also suggested that taking out a policy when an animal is young may result in a better premium as pets of a lower age are commonly seen as less of a risk.
According to research published by PDSA, the nation's animals are enjoying increased life expectancy as veterinary care continues to improve.
