While
pet insurance can help to cover the cost of unexpected trips to the vet, there are steps that pet owners can take to ensure their animal remains as healthy as possible.
Ensuring all vaccinations are up to date can help to protect animals against a range of infections, and to encourage owners to inoculate their animals, the National Vaccination Campaign has teamed up with more than 2,000 vets across the UK to help provide medical treatments to up to 11 million pets that are currently at risk.
"It is worrying that too many owners expose much-loved pets to potentially life-threatening diseases," wildlife presenter Kate Humble commented.
Ms Humble is presently working with the organisation in order to help raise awareness of the need for vaccinations and is encouraging animal owners to take their pets for regular check ups.
Meanwhile, a free pet microchipping service is being run in Norfolk this week as part of National Microchipping Month. Animal owners can bring along their pets to Norwich's Giant Pet Store on Saturday (June 6th) to take part in the promotion.
