The Peugeot 3008 Crossover has been named What Car?'s Car of the Year 2010.

Peugeot launched the 3008 in 2009 and it quickly caught the imagination of the public, the magazine said.

The vehicle offers the driving position of a 4x4, coupled with elements of a family hatchback and an MPV.

What Car? editor Steve Fowler said: "Crossover cars will be big news in the next few years with people who want the look and feel of a 4x4, but without the financial and environmental costs."

He added the car has the looks that people want at the moment and also offers great space and handling, making the 3008 the best car of the year.

Elsewhere, figures from the Motor Cycle Industry Association recently showed that while overall sales of motorbikes fell by 20 per cent over the last 12 months, there remains public interest in biking and the industry in general remains in a fit and buoyant position.

InsureandGo offers both bike and car insurance for UK road users.
