A family trip to Phuket in Thailand has been identified by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay as one of his favourite holidays.
Commenting in the Telegraph, the foul-mouthed Michelin star winner explains that as well as trekking through rainforests and sailing with dolphins, he also had the chance to taste some of the exquisite local cuisine.
"A different local chef was invited every night to cook in the hotel restaurant. It was a great way to try the local food and all refreshingly non-corporate," he explains.
In typical fashion however, he does not hold back on the holidays he deems less praiseworthy. A trip to Spain was singled out as particularly disastrous.
Originally planning on staying in a hotel with a Michelin star restaurant attached, Ramsay, along with his wife and three month old daughter Megan, found themselves eating frozen paella in a resort without water where the nearby beaches had suffered an oil slick. He and his family checked out within a day.
As well as being a much celebrated chef, Gordon Ramsay has also proven himself in the London Marathon on a number of occasions.
