A rare pink dolphin has been spotted by a boat captain sailing on a lake in the US.

And any Brits who want to jet off to see the rare mammal may want to check their holiday insurance covers them for any problems which might occur while away.

Charter boat captain Erik Rue managed to get pictures of the dolphin when he was in his vessel on Lake Calcasieu, a saltwater lake in Louisiana.

The mammal is an albino, which has made its skin appear such a vibrant colour.

Mr Rue - who says he has spotted the dolphin between 40 and 50 times - said that it is "quite beautiful and stunningly pink".

Senior biologist from the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Regina Asmutis-Silvia said that she had never seen a dolphin in the same colour in her entire career.

Holiday insurance from InsureandGo may be a wise investment for those planning on taking a trip to the US to see the rare mammal.
