Mozambique's government is making plans to improve the image of its national parks, it has been reported.
The authority is encouraging international hotel chains to offer luxury accommodation to tourists in the parks in attempts to attract more mainstream tourists to the country's facilities, rather than those that are primarily interested in outdoor activities.
It is also hoped that football fans will be attracted to the region in the run-up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, according to the Guardian.
Spokesperson for the Mozambique tourism ministry Bartolomeu Soto commented: "The area has different kinds of flora and fauna and it is favourable to different types of tourism."
Established parks in the country include Limpopo, Zinave, Bahnine, the Bazaruto Archipelago and Gorongosa.
