Local police in Suffolk will begin a 10 week speed enforcement campaign in response to concerns by local residents.

The campaign will take place mainly in Weybourne Road in Farnham, which has three schools and has led to some concerns by residents of the possible dangers of speeding in the area.

It will be run by PC Ian Heaphy, neighbourhood specialist officer, and PC Dave Thomas, the area's casualty reduction officer.

"We will be using a number of tactics, including the use of speed visors, which flash up the speed limit, in this case 30 mph, if motorists are exceeding this.

We will also be out with the speed guns and will not hesitate to issue tickets to motorists driving above the limit," said PC Heaphy.

The campaign is also putting its energies into education, with drivers being stopped and shown photographs of accidents caused by drivers speeding.

Even driving slightly above the price limit can make a difference to the consequences of any possible accidents, PC Heaphy added.
