A senior police officer has argued that the increase of drink-driving in his are is due to motorists from abroad.
According to chief inspector Rick Dowell of Dorset police, immigrants are driving the growing trend for drink-driving due to the relatively low enforcement in eastern European countries on the issue.
"We are seeing an increase in the number of foreign nationals being arrested for drink driving and speeding," said CI Dowell to the Daily Mail.
"It is just a question of cultural change and attitude," added Mr Dowell.
The chief inspector's comments echo those of Julie Spence, chief constable for Cambridgeshire police, who said on Saturday her force was struggling with the number of immigrants entering East Anglia.
Like Mr Dowell, chief constable Spence said that drink-driving attitudes from eastern European immigrants were still 20 years behind current British drivers.
Ms Spence also argued that the cultural clash extended to other forms of criminal activity, such as the carrying of knives.
