Travelling the world remains an unfulfilled desire for many professionals in the UK, new research has revealed.

Over half (53 per cent) of over 35-year-olds polled would like to travel more, a recent survey carried out on behalf of Bradford and Bingley showed.

Some would also like to live or work overseas, and feel that it would provide them with greater adventure and excitement.

According to the survey, six per cent of people regret not having taken a gap year or another form of career break.

The hopeful travellers were advised that it is 'never too late to don your backpack' and proper savings and planning could ensure it will happen sooner rather than later.

"By saving regularly or making the most of their finances by seeking professional advice there is no reason why people can't set up their own business, travel more or be prepared for that once in a lifetime opportunity that may arise," said head of savings Paul Whitlock.
